ELIZABETH

Seventy years

Of pomp and pageantry

Heritage and tradition

Of a life thrust upon

Devoid of volition

Seventy years

Of obedience and service

From a child to the woman

A Princess to The Queen

From a bride to the mother:

The mother of a nation,

This nation of ours:

A United Kingdom

Of Scots, of Irish

Of English, of Welsh

The glue that binds

Your Commonwealth.

A glue that binds us

The glue that reminds us

We stood as one,

Through thick and through thin

Through smiles and through tears

Through heartbreak and laughter

Over seventy years

Though some may scoff

And some deride

They cannot quell

The feeling inside

We share within

Our island race

This sceptred isle

Our special place

For seventy years

Of tribulations and trials

We have stood as one

In these British Isles

Never fearing to face

The evil without

Or the evil within

And so, will begin
